Three recently qualified new drivers were under Hugh’s watchful eye, gaining vital skills, which many critics feel are lacking in our current practical driving test. Recent reports have identified that our new drivers consider they are being let down by the focus of the test. Rather than performing basic manoeuvring techniques they want to see a far more stretching test of their ability to safely deal with real-life situations. |

The A1133 that snakes north from Newark, Notts, to Newton, Lincs, is an absolute cracker. Great surface; fast, sweeping corners; occasional interesting camber changes just to keep you on your toes. And right at the end of the best stretch, on a crossroads with more inviting roads leading off across rolling Lincolnshire countryside, is the house where Hugh lives. Speed kills. This is not true, but it's a catchy phrase; and an easy way for the Government to seem to be improving road safety. Speed alone does no harm, it only becomes an issue when, it's used inappropriately. |
